Sedona was rescued from a livestock auction where she was dumped with fellow broodmare Opal, along with dozens of others from her herd. She was heavily pregnant and ready to deliver imminently, but we worried about her health and the baby’s since she was so undernourished and suffering from a respiratory infection. She waited an extra week to deliver, however, until she felt safe back at MSER  and had access to plentiful food and shelter. 

Sedona safely delivered a healthy baby colt on May 27th. The two are taking time to bond, eat, and play. Sedona is very friendly and loves pets and grain! She is comfortable being haltered but doesn’t seem to know about leading or other aspects of being with people, so that is a journey we look forward to going on together!
