Rio (named for the Rio Grande) was born to mama Sedona May 27th, 2023 at Mountain Shadows. Sedona came from a livestock auction emaciated but ready to deliver. She waited a week, however, while she chowed down on plenty of hay and grain, and delivered this healthy baby boy one beautiful spring evening with Mountain Shadows volunteers on hand to witness and assist. 

Every day since then, this spritely colt grows in energy and baby spunk! Rio loves to bug his mom with zoomies and leap-frog, but is also learning his ground manners. He now halters and leads and is learning how to pick up his feet!
