Saige was surrendered to us as an unhandled yearling filly. She was surrendered with Hazel because she is not sound. She has Carpal Valgus (knock knees) which is an inward deviation of the knees. Because it was not corrected prior to the joints and growth plates fusing, she has developed some arthritis in the front knees, but she is otherwise comfortable. Our farrier and veterinarian are working closely together to help Saige as she grows. Our farrier, especially, is very excited about the different things he can try for Saige to help better align her joints as she continues to grow. Currently, she has a special shoe on the front left hoof to help her with how she carries weight on the leg. 

Saige is a spunky young girl with lots of flair and love to give. Though she will never have a future as a riding horse, we know there is a home out there for her still.
