Bug is a sweet and affectionate 2 year old Sorrel filly who came to us in February 2026 as an owner surrender. 

She has been settling in and becoming acquainted with her new surroundings. Bug is in great health and was only surrendered due to some changing circumstances with her previous family that meant they couldn’t dedicate adequate time to her training. 

Bug does have PSSM1, Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy, which she was diagnosed with as a yearling after doing Panel 6 genetic testing. However, this condition can often be managed with proper diet: low carbohydrates + high fat and daily movement and exercise to prevent muscle stiffness or “tying up” (also known as exceptional rhabdomyolysis), which is a painful and sometimes severe muscle cramping syndrome in horses. 

With dietary management, Bug has been doing great, and we will continue to manage her condition this way as well and make adjustments when/if they are needed.
