Happy Tails

The horses listed on this page have found their forever homes after coming through the Mountain Shadows Equine Revival program from high-risk situations. For more information, please contact MSER directly.

Earhart

Earhart, named for the one and only Amelia, was an auction save in 2019. This beautiful, two-year-old quarter horse mare loves attention and being brushed, is good with her feet, and not spooky. She was started under saddle at a Buck Brannaman clinic in early June of 2020. She is a very willing learner who found her forever home on a big llama ranch in northern Colorado, where she has lots of room to roam and a wonderful new owner to love on her!

Easley

Easley was saved from auction on April 17th at the Centennial Livestock Auction in Fort Collins, Colorado. She has been adopted by a family in Laramie and is working hard giving lessons to beginning riders!

Annie

Bay mare with western saddle

Annie is a very sweet, 9 year old mare who has now found a loving home in Laramie! MSER is so excited for her to have her own person who will give her all the love and attention she deserves.

Annie was restarted under saddle after she was surrendered to Mountain Shadows Equine Revival with Hope (see happy tails below!). She was consistently picking up both leads, sidepassing, stopping on a loose rein, and learning to neck rein when she was adopted. We can’t wait to see how much she improves with her new family!

Boone

Boone is a 3 year old, 14.1 hand gelding who was picked up from the Centennial Livestock Auction in April of 2019. He was an unhandled stud when he was saved, and MSER spent many hours teaching him to trust people and extensive groundwork training. He now has a home with a loving family who will continue his education, plus 10 acres to stretch his legs on!

Prada

Arabian horse ridden in snow

Prada came to MSER as a 3 year old registered Arabian mare with an inquisitive mind and the perfect amount of spunk. She was shown in halter before she came to us as an owner surrender. She is a wonderful, sweet horse who found her perfect home in Montana with an active, horse knowledgeable family who will give her all the attention she deserves!

Her bloodlines can be found here: https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/prada+sb

Hudson

Black and White Horse

Hudson is now a therapy horse for teens at the Cathedral Home for Children in Laramie, WY. Hudson is such an inspiring horse and we are so happy he will be surrounded by all the love and affection he has been missing these many years.

Hudson is a beautiful 17-18 year old black and white possible draft cross. He is a bigger guy at about 15.3 hands and weighing in around 1300 lbs. Hudson is not accustomed to gentle treatment and can be wary around people, especially as he gets to know them, however he is very solid under the saddle and would make a good horse for a confident beginner rider.  He ties well, goes bareback and western (haven’t tried English on him but don’t think he would care about a change in saddles), primarily neck reins, not spooky, steps out on the trail, stands for being saddled and bridled, not kicky around other horses, does well in a herd, and is pretty much an all-around good guy.

Hope

Black Horse

Hope was adopted by a wonderful family with two young girls to dote on her! She loves absorbing all the attention from her new family!

Hope is an 18-20 year old Arabian mare. She is very sweet and gentle without a mean bone in her body. Hope would be an excellent horse for a confident beginner who is taking lessons or working with someone experienced. She does have a few vices due to her past life, the biggest being she does not take bits. Her previous owner warned us that she has never used bits and can be headshy if she thinks that a bit is coming. That being said, she does great just riding in a halter or a soft sidepull or hackamore. Hope is a little girl at just under 14 hands and will need a smaller rider.  She has no soundness issues and has good teeth for her age, which were just floated. She is also a fairly easy keeper as she gained weight easily with us on just grass hay and about a pound of senior feed per day.

Oakley

Bay horse with winter background
Oakley

Oakley found a new home as a 4H pony and is doing great! Her relaxed and easy-going personality makes her easy to learn new things with her family.

Oakley is a very sweet and calm 2 year old grade quarter horse filly. She was saved from Centennial Livestock auction in April 2019. Once she came home to Laramie she started her saddle training and has been doing great! She has approximately 30 rides on her and has been ridden down the road and in a small horse show. Oakley is not spooky with cars, dogs, or anything we have encountered so far. She is very quiet when tied and is good for the farrier. Oakley knows all of her gaits, picks up both leads, and does not buck (she has gotten excited a couple of times and hopped, but not anything difficult). We are currently worked with her on moving her all her body parts off of pressure but she learns quickly and tries to please. At the moment, Oakley measures at 14.0 hands and will likely mature to about 14.2-14.3 hands.
